Locker Soccer Academy has partnered with Sawyer Youth Soccer to offer a U6 recreational soccer program that combines the benefits of traditional youth soccer with the advantages of the contemporary "academy" soccer program that many advanced soccer clubs have adopted for their younger players.
Academy soccer is designed to teach kids technical skills while encouraging creativity, which can help foster a child's love for the game of soccer. In academy soccer there is less emphasis on winning and more emphasis on learning and having fun!
In this combined program between Sawyer Youth Soccer and Locker Soccer Academy the kids will have one traditional practice each week, with a Sawyer Youth Soccer coach. In addition, each child will have the option to participate in an academy style program delivered by Locker Soccer Academy. The academy program will meet once per week for 8 weeks and will supplement the traditional Sawyer soccer program. The academy experience will provide a supportive environment for kids to learn technical soccer skills from trained quality instructors, all while having fun. The soccer skills that will be addressed include but are not limited to:
- Dribbling
- Ball Control
- Heading
- Shooting
- Shielding
- Passing
- Trapping- Air and Ground
- Free play- player centered scrimmages, very little coaching
This program will be available Fall 2009 and registration is available today. Registration for this program is only available through the Sawyer Youth Soccer Association website. Please register at www.sawyeryouthsoccer.com
